In early November, I was crushed by a falling tree and airlifted to Cooper Trauma Center, where I underwent seven surgeries in just six days. My injuries were extensive: a compound fracture in my left leg, a broken femur and hip on my right leg, crushed ribs on my right side, a collapsed lung, a broken back that required six fused lumbar vertebrae, and a severe internal injury where my liver was pushed through my diaphragm.
When I first came to Davis Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab, I couldn’t walk without a walker and had very little confidence in my balance or stability. After a thorough evaluation by Dr. Taylor Timmons, I began physical therapy that very same day. From the start, Taylor focused not only on rebuilding strength, but also on restoring my balance, coordination, and ability to walk safely and independently again.
A large part of my recovery involved targeted balance-specific therapy—gait training, core stabilization, proprioceptive exercises, and progressive balance challenges that helped retrain my body and nervous system after such severe trauma. Each phase of rehab was carefully adjusted as I improved, allowing me to move from assisted walking to steady, confident movement on uneven surfaces.
My recovery was slow but steady over the course of nearly a year, but the expertise, encouragement, and consistency of Taylor and the entire Davis team never wavered.
Thanks to their incredible care, I’ve been able to reclaim my life. Recently, I went on vacation and hiked for miles in the mountains of Grand Teton and Yellowstone—navigating inclines, uneven terrain, and long distances that once felt impossible.
I owe so much to Davis PTSR and especially Dr. Timmons. Thank you to everyone at Davis for helping me regain my balance, strength, and independence.
