Physical Therapist

Alyssa (Lou) Kalitz, PT, DPT

Even before joining Davis PTSR, Dr. Lou had been watching the work being done by Dr. Davis and the team. Her interest in advanced technology and the use of it were intriguing so she had inquired for position at a time when one was not available. But patience is a virtue and when the call came, Dr. Lou accepted. Since graduating with her doctorate in physical therapy, her prior professional background has focused on outpatient rehabilitation. She quickly realized that a DPT treats more than the physical aspects of one’s unique condition. There are mental and emotional components that can be equally as difficult and challenging for patients. Dr. Lou refers to this as the “perfect trifecta” and one that requires a high level of motivation when delivering on a challenging PT program.

Dr. Lou’s passion for physical therapy began as early as the 6th grade having watched several family members struggle with the pain associated with various conditions. However, it was in 7th grade as a gymnast when it became even more clear. After breaking both ankles and spending time in a wheelchair, she returned to sports but this time with a lacrosse stick in hand. That lead to a full scholarship to Drexel University and where she pursued her dream career. This unexpected injury was truly life-changing and a story she retells others who might be having a difficult time. Further it is this sense of gratitude that gets Dr. Lou up every morning.

The former D1 Lacrosse player and National Strength and Conditioning All American continues to have a love of sport, returning to Washington Township High School to help coach. She is an avid Philly sports fan, enjoys working out and finds time for crafting. Dr. Lou is also one who will not shy away for being out among the community and if not a DPT, she might have been caught on a sideline of a big game as a sports commentator.

“Everything happens for a reason.”
